My first job as a make-up artist! | Illuminations - In Atmospheres.

Hello lovely's,

I'm so sorry to the 5 of my followers that I haven't posted in literally months. I lost the motivation and inspiration for quite a long time. But I'm feeling pretty positive about it all again now, and I genuinely am hoping I can give myself a kick up the bum and get back into it.

So as you may or may not know, since September I have been studying Hair & Media Make-up, I absolutely love it and it's what I want to do for the rest of my life. I've worked on a fair few productions now in theatre with college, but I got the opportunity to work on my first music video the other month.

The band is called 'In atmospheres' and their new single is called 'illuminations' - they've worked extremely hard to get where they are and this was their first video so I am very proud to say I was a part of it! The day was very cold and very snowy, but an experience in all and they got an amazing video out of it!

I Met The Mend!

This was definitely the best weekend of this year. We aren't far into this year, but I will remember this night forever. Basically, I wasn't bothered about going out, until I saw on facebook that 'The Mend' were going to be at Embrace, Sheffield. I literally ran round my living room jumping around and squeeling. There was no way I was missing this, so I put myself on the guestlist.

Here's a picture of me and my friend before we went out being silly. We may have had a cheeky few beverages at this point ;).We got to embrace and the lady at the guestlist said 'would you like VIP, it's £2' my reaction was, 'WHAT?! £2?! DO YOU GET A PHOTO?!' to which she said yes, so obviously I got VIP for the photo. I got myself a drink and took my position right infront of the stage, which is where I stayed until they came on. (as you do!)

Here is a video that I took, they are pretty much standing on top of me, that's how close I was, there was no barrier, only a bouncer at each side of the stage. I could have touched them, but i'm not that stupid. They were really good, and all beautiful beautiful boys. I just love craigs voice.

We then went up to the VIP area to have our photo taken, here is how mine turned out.

Probably the worst outcome I could have imagined. Why the face? you may be asking. WELL. Before they were even there, if you follow me on twitter, you would have seen my slightly tipsy embarassing tweets to them, one of which said something along the lines of 'the mend are about to come on, i've got a fluttery front bum', i did use a more vulgar word though.

 

So when it came to having this photo taken, craig said, hiya what's your name, and i replied, 'louisa, i tweeted about the fluttery front bum' Jay sort of turned his head and went WHATTTT! and the rest said something along the lines of 'we have seen that one! I remember it!' so I was laughing, thus ruining the only photo oportunity i had.

 

This wasn't to be my last meeting with them however, we got to go back into VIP to sit with them! craig and jay were the more talkative of the 4, but kris and dean were talking to some other girls and looked pretty into it. They are absolutely lovely, and it's funny that i seem to think they aren't normal people, when they are, they are just average boys like any others, they just have a great talent, and a lot of fans. I genuinely had the best night of my life and it was the best £2 i've ever spent. Craig is now following me on twitter, but that's probably because I was drunken and annoying haha, but it made my day :)

The moment they go on tour, which i'm sure they will, I will go and see it, and if they are ever at embrace again, you can betcha' i will do all I can to be there! Has anyone else met them or seen them? I just think they are amazing!

As this will only be my third post I thought I would make it another personal one so that you can get to know me :) All of those 5 lovely followers!

001. My sleep pattern hasn't been normal since I was around 11. I can sleep for up to 15 hours, and if I haven't slept for atleast 8 hours I don't function properly and I sleep at stupid times like 3 in the morning.

 

002. I have arachnaphobia like you wouldn't believe (spiders).

 

003. I'm obsessed with Harry Potter films.

 

004. I've been single for around 6 years, yay for it nearly being valentines day!

 

005. I am a very fussy eater. It has to be plain, and i pretty much only eat chicken.

 

006. I'm a pretty hardcore gamer. Mainly Call of Duty.

 

007. Money burns a hole in my pocket. I don't seem to know what the word 'save' means.

 

008. My favourite season is winter, it's cosy.

 

009. My mum is my best friend, nobody will ever compare to her.

 

010. I drink far too much diet coke.

 

011. I've been to Magaluf 3 years in a row, i like to party.

 

012. I hate staying in at the weekend. I think I want to stay in and be cosy, as soon as 9pm comes around, i'm craving to go out!

 

013. Getting ready is my favourite part of the night.

 

014. I had no idea about make-up before I found youtube and blogging. I used to cover spots with dots of foundation, i didn't think you had to put it all over your face haha!

 

015. I don't know how I ever lived without an iPhone5.

 

016. I've met Charlotte, Ricky, Vicky and Gaz from Geordie Shore.

 

017. My birthday is 3 days before christmas, it's annoying.

 

018. I have never been to a salon to get my nails done.

 

019. I enjoy classical music.

 

020. I'm a list maker. I get all motivated whilst writing the lists, but then do nothing from the list.

 

021. I have a good judgement on people, i trust my instincts and 99% of the time i'm right on my judgement.

 

022. I eat chocolate for breakfast and have diet coke too. My diet is too healthy, I know.

 

023. I have 2 yorkshire terriers named Reo & Daphney, Reo was my 14th birthday present, she is my princess.

 

024. I have way too many nail varnishes, and I hardly EVER paint my nails..

 

025. I had 2 driving lessons and didn't get let off the car park. The thought of driving scares me.

Review | H&M Holographic Nail Varnish.

 Today I am going to review one of H&M's nail polishes. The name is 'Jo Is In The House' (or atleast i assume it is because there is a sticker saying that on the top!) I had my eye on the limited edition holographic polish from GOSH, but the day I walked past this, I never thought about it again. As soon as this caught my eye, I had to have it.

It was £2.99 and considering how amazing this polish is, it is an absolute bargain & must have! It applies well and fairly thick and it dries surprisingly fast too. I did however buy this quite a while ago, so wether they still sell it i'm not sure.

I apologise for the quality of the photos and the lighting, but I really wanted to try and show you the colours and how much it does sparkle. Above is just one coat of the polish which I think it pretty amazing.

And here again with only 2! coats. So with a base coat colour underneath like silver, and another layer of this, as you can imagine, it's pretty spectacular.

I did this photo blurry so you can get more of an idea of how it sparkles, it is just simply beautiful and a polish that I think every nail varnish fanatic needs in their collection, and at £2.99, it would be rude not too!

Pretty Little Steps | A Fresh Start.

Hello Lovely's!
I am back. Fresh faced and ready for a year of blogging and what not. I decided a fresh start was in order because I had left the other one for far too long and I wanted a new start to become more proffesional. So I suppose I better start by saying who I am and what this blog is going to be about.

So this is me, quite glammed up and using my new app called picfx, but there you go. My name is Louisa Mary, i'm 21 and from the steel city, Sheffield. I am studying Hair & Media Make-up Level 3 and completely determined to make it in the make-up industry working on film. It's taken me a long time (and money) to realise what I want to do, but i'm glad i've realised my dreams so young on.

I love anything to do with make-up. It's an obsession that I don't think will ever shift. I love anything pretty, sparkly, fluffy, floral, pink or girly. I also play on the xbox, a bit of a nerdy gamer if i'm honest.

Why 'Pretty Little Steps'?
I was going to call this blog 'Louisa Mary Loves', but then I feel like it has to be everything I love and what not. Pretty Little Steps are what i'm taking. Small steps in the direction I want to go. It isn't going to happen overnight. So that is why I decided on that name.

What can you expect to see?
Well obviously I am going to be posting about work i'm doing at college, and doing reviews on my kit. My college is sponsored by Illamasqua so my kit consists of their products, so expect a lot of that. I will also be doing reviews on other products that I like/dislike. I will be posting some lifestyle posts and posts on my life like I did before, I also have an iPhone5 now, so expect Instaposts and Instaweeks. I will try and post OOTD's and NOTD's, but to be honest i'm not very fashionable so we will see. There also may be a weight loss journey.

I've sort of got into the hang of twitter now, so I will be following you lovely's back and interacting more to make new friends and what not. I'm glad to be getting back into it and i'm glad that some of you have stuck by me and waited for me :)

For the future?
I hope to go to blogger meet ups and meet some of you fabulous people, and to just expand and get myself out there, networking :)
